M&D 16&u Tyldesley Vs Warrington - 25th September 2016
1st Quarter
Match captain is Matt; Warrington are first to the ball and Dom taps in a goal. Next attack, Conor passes to Dom who scores. Tyldesley counter and get a man-up. Luke saves and the home side set-up again, this time the ball is sent wide. Matt takes a shot, but it’s blocked, Dom tracks back to defend and Matt intercepts. On the attack now, Ben passes to Matt who shoots, but it’s saved. Emma defends the pit; Tyldesley get a man-up and Luke makes a save. Conor passes to Emma who sends the ball up to Matt, who shoots but it goes wide. Good defending again from Emma, in the pit. The visitors attack now, and it looks like a Tyldesley own-goal, but the goalie keeps it out. Emily B defends well and the Tyldesley attack runs out of time. Warrington gain a man-up - Emma is next on the score-sheet. The home-side get a man-up but the visitors defend well. In the last throw of the quarter Conor shoots, but it’s saved. A terrific start to the match, with the score at 0-3.
2nd Quarter
This quarter Warrington are attacking the shallow end - Matt is first to the ball, and the visiting side show great team-work and passing under-pressure. Dom takes a shot and hits the post. Warrington get a man-up and possession changes again, before the ball is with Matt, he fakes and buries the ball to get on the score-sheet. Conor passes to Emily B she shoots, but it’s saved. Ben intercepts a Tyldesley pass. Emily passes to Dan, who shoots, but it’s saved. At the deep-end, Luke makes a save. Matt passes to Conor, whilst Emily B defends. Tyldesley get a man-up, Luke keeps the ball out of the net. Ben is next to score - great play. Dan intercepts and Dom collects the ball, then passes to Emily B. Dom shoots, saved. The home side attack now, but Dom is soon in possession and passes to Emily B who makes a super swim, under-pressure. She passes to Ben, who returns the ball and she scores with a lovely lob-shot. Dan passes to Ben, who passes to Emily B, who passes to Conor. Great passing from the visitors. Conor shoots but it’s saved. Katie shoots, but it’s saved. The Tyldesley keeper is having a great game. Emily B has possession and Warrington get a man-up. They set-up well and Conor takes the shot, but it hits the cross-bar. Luke shoots with the last throw of the quarter, but it hits the netting - of the ceiling. The quarter ends 0-6.
3rd Quarter
Matt wins the ball, and the visitors get a man-up - Conor gets on the score-sheet. Great defending and the home side shoot but off-target. Matt scores again - a great shot from the wing. Matt passes to Katie; she and Dan exchange passes, sending the ball into the pit but no goal. Ben makes a superb swim, but Tyldesley gain possession and get a man-up. They fail to capitalise and Ben goes on to score. Katie passes to Dan who swims up, is fouled and the visitors have a man-up. Katie shoots and it hits the post, Dan collects the ball from the rebound and scores. The hosts attack, and Emily I defends the pit, Luke makes a save. Dan passes to Katie, who passes to Matt, who is under-pressure from the opposition. Emma scores from the pit under-pressure. Emily I is tightly marked and passes to Dan, who skims the ball into Emma in the pit. Tyldesley get a man-up and call time-out; Warrington defend, following the instructions of the coaches and Luke from the net. Warrington get a man-up and Dan scores. Emma defends as Tyldesley take a long-shot - Luke makes the save. The hosts make a save as the buzzer goes, ending the quarter. The score is 0-12.
4th Quarter
Final quarter and Warrington have a comfortable lead; can Luke keep a clean-sheet? Dom picks up from a Tyldesley throw; Conor scores - a fantastic bounce-shot. The hosts go on to score. Tyldesley get a man-up; Matt is wrapped-up. Luke makes a save. Ben has possession and keeps the ball despite being under-water - superb individual play. Ben passes to Dom, who passes to Emily B, she shoots but it hits the cross-bar. Tyldesley attack, Emily I defends. Luke makes a save. Emily B swims up, and is getting sunk, but shoots, it’s saved. Katie passes to Ben, who shoots it hits the keeper - bet that hurt! Dom works hard in defence. Ben sends the ball to Katie, in a good position but the Tyldesley defence work hard to get the ball. Katie passes to Emma, who passes in to Ben, in the pit - he scores. Emily I keeps the pressure on, Luke makes a save. Ben passes to Emily B, she passes to Katie and it’s the last minute. Dom shoots, but it’s saved. Tyldesley shoot, Luke saves and Katie keeps up the pressure. Great passing, with time running out, Ben to Emma to Emily B, to Conor. He takes a shot, but it goes wide. The match ends 1-14.
Coach Tom reflected, that whilst the team’s passing was good, we committed too many majors. Thanks to a kind donation from the Horne family, Su was delighted with the team’s new bottle-carrier!
