Chester vs Warrington 16 and Under Manchester and District League Match

1st Quarter

Warrington started attacking the shallow end.  They started quickly with Dominic having a backhand shot and Conor shooting wide.  Emily was fouled and a penalty was awarded.  Dominic threw a thunderbolt shot in to the top corner, not giving he goalkeeper any chance.  Emily did some good defending.  Some great play created the next goal, Luke did a long pass to Conor who passed to Dan and back to Conor who scored.  The Chester keeper made a great save from Matt. Stanley set up Ben to score in the bottom corner.  Chester scored with just over 3 and half minutes of the quarter remaining. Chester had a player wrapped up for a 3rd exclusion. Adam scored with a great backhand shot.  Chester replied to make the quarter end score 2-4.

2nd Quarter

Warrington started the second quarter with Dominic scoring into the bottom corner after 20 seconds of the quarter.  Ben scored 30 seconds later.  Luke did a long pass to Conor who set up Dominic for another goal.  Ben scored another goal and shortly after Luke passed to Emily who passed to Stanley to score.  Adam did a great pass to set up Brett to score.  A long pass from Luke to Adam, who set up Conor to score with a shot that came of the far post.  Warrington were awarded a penalty which the keeper saved from Emma.  Emma was then down the other of the pool doing some great defending.  Dominic came close hitting the post and shortly after scored.  

Emily had a great shot which looked like a certain goal, the Chester keeper who had a great game tipped it on to the post.  Stanley swam really fast to take the ball from a Chester playing who was through on goal. Katie was also doing some good defensive work. Stanley was then using his speed in attack to set up Matt to score making the score 2-15 at the end of the quarter.

 

Quarter 3

Warrington were awarded a penalty which the Chester keeper saved from Emily.  Chester scored and then Warrington did some great play with Conor passing to Emily who set up Dominic for a goal from a backhand shot.  Ben set Conor up for a goal.  Warrington came under pressure at the back, Katie did some great defensive work when she was 2 on to 1. Emma did well to keep the ball when under a lot of pressure, Matt and Adam also did good defensive work.  Warrington swiftly moved into attack with Luke passing to Conor, who passed on to Matt to score. Matt and Dan did some good defensive work at the end of the quarter to stop Chester scoring. The quarter ended 3-18.

Quarter 4

Warrington started quickly again attacking the deep end.  Dominic scoring in the first 20 seconds and Dan scoring with some good play from Dominic and Ben.  Katie was excluded for getting a piggy back from one of the Chester players, who stood up with Katie still on his back, much to the amusement of the Warrington substitutes.

Luke made another great save.  Ben scored 2 goals in quick succession, the second was a great team effort.  Conor set up Stanley for a goal.  Luke passed to Conor, who passed to Emma, who had a good shot which hit the far post.  Emily set up Stanley for a goal.  Chester had some attacks right at the end, scoring 2 late goals. Luke got a hand to the first, the second was a great backhand shot which took everyone by surprise.  Emily had played very well and she brought a great save out of the Chester keeper right at the end.  The final score was 5-25.

Another good team performance. James did well rotating all the players to ensure that they all stayed fresh.
