Senior L&D. Bridgefield A 19 - 11 Warrington

Warrington travelled to unbeaten Bridgefield A on Thursday in the hope to reverse the result of the narrow defeat earlier in the year.

The first quater started slowly with lots of chances missed from both sides but Bridgefield broke the deadlock after about 3 minutes. Warrington pulled one back 2 minutes later through Tom Hadley. David Price was then excluded for a defensive foul in the pit, but Warrington managed to defend the man down situation. Bridgefield then pulled 4-1 ahead until Addison Brown clawed one back at the end of the quarter. It finished 4 - 2 to Bridgefield.

The second quarter was to see the introduction of the in form player on the night. James Barker buried two excellently taken goals. But Bridgefield were to win this quarter 8-2 and it was here the game was won. At the end of the 2nd quarter the score stood at 12 - 4.

The third quarter saw a resurgent Warrington play much better polo and take the time to set up the arc and play percentage polo. Two more excellent goals from James Barker and a goal each from Tom Hadley and Addison Brown saw Warrington win this quarter 3 - 4 but the score was still against Warrington at 15 - 8.

The last quarter was again close and two more goals from Addison and a rare goal from Peter Burke when he came out of goals meant Warrington lost the quarter 4 - 3. Final score 19 - 11 to Bridgefield.

Warrington were beaten in this game by the fast break and giving the ball away quickly on our attacks played into the hands of the faster and fitter Bridgefield team. Stand out performances however were from four goal James Barker and Paul Daintith had a one of his best games to date. The young players coped well against the stronger opponents especially Tom Costello who had one of his best games also. Neil Musgrove was solid in goals and made some excellent saves especially in the shallow end. Andy Burke and David Price are forming an Tony Adams and Martin Keown type partnership in defence. Lets hope they can take the positives from this game into next weeks game at home against Liverpool.
