Warrington 11 Bridgefield 4 (14&u M&D)

It was with some trepidation that Warrington took on Bridgefield in the Manchester & District League at Great Sankey. With goal keeper Luke Atkinson and standby goal keeper Luke Boardman both unavailable Warrington looked to face a tough test against old rivals Bridgefield. However Bridgefield had some players missing as well bringing 9 players. Warrington started well with a goal from Molly Boniface-Ashton. Bridgefield had a player excluded and Molly Boniface-Ashton scored from the man up. The quarter ended 3-0 with Molly Boniface Ashton already with a hat trick.

In the second quarter the fast improving Connor Lynch scored. In a scrappy quarter there were few goals until the last minute when Molly Boniface-Ashton scored to make it 5-0 before Bridgefield pulled one back.

In the third quarter it was again a quite quarter with only two goals. The first came from Connor Lynch and with two minutes to go Bridgefield pulled one back.  The quarter ended 6-2.

In the final quarter there were plenty of goals with Bridgefield being the first to score, before Warrington pulled one back through you guessed it Molly Boniface Ashton. Twelve year old Katie Bowater then scored an excellent goal from the left wing to make it 8-3. Bridgefield continued to battle with a goal before Molly Boniface Ashton scored her 6th goal. Matt Williams was then excluded but Warrington defended well and Bridgefield didn’t score. Warrington scored two more goals through Matt Williams and Emily Bowater the final score 11-4 to Warrington.

An excellent team performance by all eight Warrington players. My thanks to Dom Richards, Conor Lynch and Matt Williams for taking turns to play in goal. Warrington’s best player was Molly Boniface Ashton with six goals.

Warrington’s Team included Conor Lynch (2), Ben Dailey, Matt Williams (1), Molly Boniface Ashton (6), Emily Bowater (1), Dom Richards, Katie Bowater(1).
