Channel swim completed

Rob Waterhouse and Adam Farini were part of a six man relay team from Warrington Dolphins that crossed the channel.

“We landed on French soil at 5:50 this morning (28th June) after

13hrs39m of swimming in ‘interesting’ conditions. Adam Farini touched

France for the team … a great achievement for him.”

The water temperature was 15degrees ish, and they swam overnight setting off at 4pm from England.

Success in Merseyside Swimming League

Merseyside and District Junior Swimming League 2015-16

Warrington Win Merseyside Division 3 Swimming League

Warrington Swimming and Water Polo Club had a brilliant start to the competition, winning the home leg and then increasing on the second. In the third, we had a number of our best swimmers unable to compete for one reason or another which left it to the last gala to determine the eventual league winners.

The final gala was very exciting with a number of close races, with four where there was less than an arm length in it. We were hampered by only having one open age swimmer. The 14/15’s were asked to step up and they did, winning one of their races against some serious competition. Bootle & North Liverpool pulled out all the stops, but it was not good enough with Warrington winning by the narrow margin of 600 points to 592 points. There was good team spirit all round and the closeness of the end result meant that every swimmer counted. Congratulations to all that took part.

Dive Clinics

Just a reminder that the last dive clinic is on Friday 29th 7.30pm at Sankey.

It has been such a great success that we have extended the training to accommodate this activity.
Thanks to everybody who has attended, we would just like to confirm the following
There will still be swimming available during this Friday night session.
There are plenty of spaces left for the session for anybody wishing to come even if you haven’t confirmed.
We would encourage everybody to attend and you can still come if you didn’t make the first sessions.
Thanks

Ian Wilson

Stroke Clinics

The regional swimming management group have organised STROKE CLINICS to take place in February 2016.

The venue is Accrington Academy

The Coach delivering the sessions is Fred Furniss

6th February      -              Butterfly and Breaststroke

20th February     -              Backstroke and Freestyle

The cost for each day is £10.00 per swimmer (parents and coaches are free)

The stroke clinics are geared for the swimmers but this time we have the capacity for parents to listen to the presentations and also watch their child swim.  We are also asking if 1 coach per club is interested in attending for their development then they will also have the added involvement with the pool session.

Numbers are limited so will be on a first come first serve basis.

Percy Mason Meet Results

Quick run down from the Percy Mason meet at the weekend. All the swimmers did really well and everyone had PB’s and no DQ’s. Really good team spirit with everyone supporting their team mates.

Medal winners were:
Joseph Weston 6
Megan Dawson 3
Jessica Critchlow 1
Nyah Jack 1
Seb Taylor 1

Special mentions to Nyah, who achieved a county time in the 50 free.

Best swim was Lucy, whose goggles broke at the start of her 200IM and still took 16s off her PB.

Charlotte had four PB’s in all her four races, Olivia PB’s in all five races.

Unluckiest swimmer was Amy, who took seven seconds off her PB in the 50 butterfly, but was pipped to a medal by Jessica (0.22s)!

Well done everyone who took part.
