Information Parents May find useful

Here  is a message and link from Lisa that all parents may find useful

“Cardiac risk in the young (CRY) organisation run screening programmes for people age 14-35 to check for any underlying cardiac problems that left undiagnosed could result in problems even the fatal heart attack that is being reported more often these days.

CRY and some sporting governing bodies recommend that if your child regularly competes in sports to get them screened.

They currently have a timetable of events around the country to book a appointment for screening- which takes about 20 mins.
The majority of these sessions are free- being sponsored through fundraising efforts.
If you booked it privately, the cost can be hundreds of pounds.

I have booked Emma onto one down in Newcastle under Lyme in October.

Here is the website address for people to go on.

www.c-r-y.org.uk

Not saying it is compulsory but want to give parents the information to make their own decisions.

Hope that is ok that I sent it to you.

Thanks

Kendal Mint Meet

Well done to the Warrington Swimmers who participated in the Kendal Mint meet this weekend. Warrington only sent four swimmers , one of which was her very 1st gala. Nicole Duffy - gained 3 new PB’s and also won a spot prize for winning her heat but we also came away with a boat load of new Pb’s but, more important, a stack of medals. These comprised of 4 – GOLD / 6 – SILVER and 4 - BRONZE , which is astounding for only 4 swimmers, we were also praised by other clubs as how far we have travelled but also how much we have improved as a club on the swimming front , so well done to everyone involved at the club. We are heading in the right direction , please try and encourage the swimmers to compete as much as possible. See Phil , Lynette or myself about the next gala at Blackpool.

Thanks

Shaun

Time Trials and Recent Comps

Recent new times including time trials/comps and the M&D at Formby are now available from your coach.

All races were very competitive and the final results were
Formby - 172/ Runcorn - 160 / Warrington - 143 and Bridgefield - 66 ,  we had 11 (1st) places and in over 19 of the races the differences between 1st and 3rd was only 2 feet , which on any other day could have gone our way. Excellent performance by all swimmers and everyone who attend and helped out

Thanks

Shaun

Warrington Coach Wins Gold at 1500m Event

One of Warrington S&WP club’s own swimming coaches (Alec Glover) competed recently in a 1500M event. He decided to do it only doing breaststroke and came away with the Gold Medal in a time of 25 mins 43 secs. Alec said it was down to all his hard work doing the 50M training sessions, which the club hold once a month at Liverpool Aquatics. This has helped his stamina over this grueling distance and hopefully will inspire more of the club’s swimmers to attend this extra session. Please see Head Coach Shaun Woodward to see if you can attend the next session (details on club web site) as spaces are limited and on first come basis.
