Women's Team come Third in Livepool and District Championships

Warrington started off well, but narrowly lost their first game 1-2 against Birkenhead, with Hazel Musgrove making some great saves in goal. With no substitutes and everyone contributing to a good team performance, with some great defensive work, against the team that eventually came second..

In the second match against Lancaster Emilty Atkinson went in goal, which allowed us to have more attacking options and squeeze a narrow 3-2 victory, with a disputed penalty in the last minute.

Our third game against Liverpool, the eventual winners was a well balanced team effort as confidence grew and came away with a 2-2 draw. The younger players Emily Bowater, Katie Bowater, Emily Ireland and Eleanor Brear all worked tirelessly up and down the pool to support the attack and bolster the defence, with some fine saves from Emily Atkinson in goal.

With another short break before our final match Eleanor Brear went in goal, and did well. This was a much more open game, but ended with a pleasing 6-5 victory.

The whole tournament was played in a good friendly atmosphere as teams shared players if there were gaps in the squad, as we were missing a few players due to other comitments so we had Rosie Morris helpng out which made a big difference to our defence.

Well done to all those who took part and it was great for the team to get good experience and a few victories at the same time.

We hope to keep the squad together and play further friendly matches against teams in the region, so keep an eye on the calendar for upcoming matches and the odd training session.
